A striking documentary about how progressive people in the Haight-Ashbury section of San Francisco organized to feed homeless people, only to be harassed and arrested by the police after a group of wealthy area residents and real estate people complained to the government. The program also has segments from an interview with a professor who specializes in the problems of the homeless, and two mini-documentaries about the homeless in Austin. The first asks some of them their philosophy of life, and the other spotlights one of the homeless who built a houseboat on Austin's Town Lake, to the consternation of the local elites.
